Travelling to Paris is wonderful for many reasons. The French capital is one of the most beautiful cities in the world thanks to its monuments, streets, neighbourhoods, river and atmosphere, without forgetting about the exquisite gastronomy that you can enjoy in its many bistros and brasseries. For these reasons and many more, renting apartments in Paris is the best way to experience th city and all of its essence from as close as you can get.[See more]
Once in Paris, there are many places to see, experience and enjoy. A must-see is the Eiffel Tower, one of the most emblematic monuments not only in Paris but in the whole world. Its majestic appearance and steel structure stands out in the Paris skyline and the views from the top are truly amazing. Other monuments and places not to miss are the Champs-Elysées, Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc de Triomphe, Sacré Coeur and the Palace of Versailles just outside the city. You also have to visit the amazing museums the city has, such as the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay, the former containing the famous Gioconda by Leonardo da Vinci.
Paris is also a city that stands out for its emblematic districts, especially Montmartre, a neighbourhood on a hill with narrow and cobbled winding streets, quiet squares with terraces and a wide range of cabarets, such as the famous Moulin Rouge. The Latin Quarter is the ideal place to find cosy cafes and a modern and student atmosphere, a part of the city that enjoyed its heyday back in the 60s and 70s, perfect to find cheap apartments in Paris and relax in the city. For the best bars and restaurants in a unique setting, the Marais is the best place to go, although for something a bit more upmarket, try Saint-Germain des Près.
When to visit Paris
Like most European cities, Paris is best to visit before or after summer , as the city gets very busy during that time and the temperatures are lower. April and May or September and October are the ideal times to enjoy this city without any weather troubles and with less people.
Getting around Paris
Paris has two main airports in the city, Charles de Gaulle and Orly, where all major airlines fly to and from where access to the city is easy. There’s also Beauvais Airport one hour away which is where low-cost airlines fly to. Inside the city, its metro is the best, easiest and cheapest way to get around and get to anywhere in the city during your holidays in Paris, much cheaper than its taxis.
Festivals in Paris
The most important day in the city is the 14th of July, French National Day, a day for celebrations and tricolour flags everywhere. Also, the White Night of the museums is especially charming in Paris, as is its Fashion Week, since Paris is one of the world’s fashion capitals thanks to its glamour and hundreds of boutiques.
