ALCOCHETE is a Portuguese village with fifteen thousand inhabitants, integrated into the district of Setúbal, a region of Lisbon. It’s the headquarter of the Natural Park of the Estuary of the “Tejo”, which still possesses some active salt mines and where flocks of flamingos come home to nest. Alcochete is known for its tauromáquica tradition (bullfighting tradition) and its proximity to the longest bridge of Europe, Vasco of Gamma (17 km in length). This is one of two bridges that join Lisbon to the south edge of the river “Tejo”. Thanks to its recent construction you will find in this locality one of the biggest commercial shopping centres (Freeport) and leisure complex of Europe. In this centre you will enjoy many facilities, which include among others, 11 cinemas, some discos, restaurants and shopping. Public transport is excellent with the bus bringing you to Lisbon in 20 minutes. The beaches of the Costa Azul (Blue Coast) and the Costa do Sol (Coast of the Sun) are also nearby.
