Dichtbij: POVLJA. Povlja is a little fishermen''s town on the eastern part of the island, facing the Dalmatian coast, with quiet beaches and crystal waters. In the main square you may visit an Early- Christian Basilica. The surroundings are characterized by typical Dalmatian stone houses, some of them very well renovated, Mediterranean vegetation, olive trees and astonishing landscape. The capital of the island, Supetar (arriving point for the ferry that connects the island to the city of Split), is 40km away and can be reached by car or bus. Less than 9 km far away there is Sumartin, where you can catch a ferry for another Dalmatian resort town, Makarska. In the area you will easily find characteristic taverns and restaurants that serve delicious fish dishes. In the shops you may also buy the local products such as olive oil, cheese and vine.

Dichtbij: SUPETAR. With its 3500 inhabitants Supetar is the biggest settlement and the capital of Brač. It is located on the northern part of the island, in the St Peter Bay. Supetar, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, is one of the most important Dalmatia’s resort towns. It is connected to Split by a ferry line. Here you can visit the Church of Mary’s Annunciation, the nearby museum and the Bell-tower. The contemporary church is built on the foundations of an early Christian Basilica dedicated to St. Peter. Nearby also ruins of Ancient Roman Villas have been found. The beaches are not far away. In the town you will easily find bars and restaurants.
