ZAIDIN

ZAIDIN-VERGELES (or simply the Zaidín) is a neighbourhood in the city of Granada and is placed in the south zone of the Granada capital (approximately 30 minutes walking from the centre). It takes its name from the Arabic term "Saedin" (" water arm” or " land between rivers "). It is well-known thanks to the Sport’s Palace and the summer rock festival Zaidin that has taken place since 1983 outdoors in different squares and streets of this neighborhood and it marks the end of summer and the reception of the university population by the city. It is organized by the Residents Association of neighbourhood and it is opened to public and free what encourages to the congregation of multitudes year after year. Every Saturday the colourful market with fruits, vegetables and clothes gives a good occasion to enjoy the neighbourhood.
