About 8km west lies the second largest city “Ialysos”. On the whole east coast there are numerous hotels, nightclubs, bars, restaurants and beaches. In the north-west of the island there is the Valley of the Butterflies, where you can see the famous butterflies with bright red wings. You can also visit the thermal baths of Kalithea, situated next to the beach. Some famous movies have been recorded here and the sea is perfect for diving.
The area around Felariki is like a large holiday resort, but you can also enjoy traditional restaurants and hotels. Due to the West Wind "Meltemi" you can practice windsurf and other water sports in almost every beach. The island has a bus service, but there is also the possibility to rent a car or a motorcycle.
