LAATZEN. Laatzen is a city in Lower Saxony and is located in the south of Hanover, directly on the border of the city. The community of Laatzen was first brought to attention in official documents in 1259. The Gothic brick chapel, which during the Second World War was heavily damaged, is an important tourist attraction. Furthermore, there is the aviation museum, a large shopping centre "Leine Center Laatzen" with about 80 stores to go shopping, the park of the senses (Expo project) and the "Southern Leineaue", which is a nature reserve for animals and plants from the region. For the sport activists there is “AquaLaatzium”- the Wellness-Oasis, which offers pool, sauna and fitness. In Laatzen there are also the fairgrounds of Hanover (CeBIT & Hannover-Messe).
