15-TRUDERING-RIEM. The districts Trudering and Riem together form the 15th district and are located in the east of Munich on the city border near some nature. According to excavations that have taken place here, this area has a long history, which dates back to the Stone Age. There are also documents in which Trudering was mentioned, the oldest of which dates back to the year 772. Today Trudering is a high-quality neighbourhood with nice family houses and well kept residences. This is especially the case since the closure of the airport Riem in 1992, which means that aircraft noise is no longer an issue. In 1994 they began building the new fairground of Riem, which was previously an old airport. Now there is a big shopping centre, shops, restaurants and more. This district is also well served by public transport such as the train, metro and buses.
