OLD TOWN. The Old Town was completed in the 13th century and managed to preserve its beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains. It is a jumble of narrow streets and red-tiled roofs. Tall walls encircle the city and there are two entrances to the Old Town - the Pile Gate leads to the Stradun, the city''s promenade. Here you will find the Onofrio Fountain, the Franciscan Monastery, the Orlando Column, Sponza Palace and the church of St. Blaise, city''s patron.
