CHIADO.Since 1755 the Chiado is the artistic and elegant neighborhood of Lisbon. Not far from the ruins of the monastery Carmo, founded in 1389, the terrace of the famous bar A Brasileira is the ideal place to take a cup: Fernando Pessoa was used to coming to write here.Near we find the House Havaneza which is a consacrated establishment to the art of smoking cigars. Another well known place is the Confeitaria National, founded in 1829. To visit the Chiado take in the Rossio the rua gave Carmo: you will discover one of the curiosities of the capital, the elevator of santa Justa. It is a metallic elevator 45 meters high activated old by a steam engine. Since the upper platform you will enjoy an unique panoramic view.
