BERCY/BASTILLE is in the 12/ Bastille district of París. It is the ideal location for a holiday in the city. If you want to spend your holiday in the city but want to sleep peacefully, BERCY/BASTILLE is perfect.

BASTILLE. The Bastille or more exactly the Bastille Saint Antoine was a fortress built on the current square of the Bastille in Paris. It was, at the beginning, a castle and arsenal built to defend the Saint Antoine’s door and the walls of the East of Paris but later on was transformed into a prison. Today it is the symbol of the beginning of the French Revolution. It is still possible to see some relics on the subway station of Bastille and in the Galli square. This district is very animated, with many fairs, concerts and markets. Bastille square is very appreciated on Fridays and Saturdays evenings for its coffees, restaurants, cinemas and discotheques. There is also the Opera Bastille. The access is very easy thanks to the subway and bus transportation.

Neighborhood : 12/ Bastille
BASTILLE. La bastille, ou plus exactement la Bastille Saint Antoine etait une forteresse élevée sur l’actuelle place de la Bastille à Paris. Elle était, à l’origine, un château fort et un arsenal destiné à défendre la porte Saint Antoine et les remparts de l’Est de Paris mais fut ensuite transformée en prison d’Etat. C’est aujourd''hui le symbole du début de la Révolution francaise. On peut encore aujourd''hui en voir des vestiges sur le quai de la station de métro Bastille et dans le square Galli. Ce quartier est trés animé, et recoit de nombreuses foires, concerts et marchés. La place de la Bastille est trés appréciée les vendredis et samedis soirs pour ses nombreux cafés, restaurants, cinemas et boite de nuits. On y trouve également le fameux Opera bastille. De plus l’accés y est trés facile grâce au métro ou bus.
