BASTILLE. The Bastille or more exactly the Bastille Saint Antoine was a fortress built on the current square of the Bastille in Paris. It was, at the beginning, a castle and arsenal built to defend the Saint Antoine’s door and the walls of the East of Paris but later on was transformed into a prison. Today it is the symbol of the beginning of the French Revolution. It is still possible to see some relics on the subway station of Bastille and in the Galli square.
