  • SAN TELMO. In its origins Sant Telmo was the area of the city inhabited by the wealthy families of Buenos Aires, until the epidemic of the yellow fever of 1871, that forces them to change to the north. In this neighborhood you can see works of architecture of previous times, as the Orthodox Russian Church (1904), the passage of The Defense and the Plaza Colonel Manuel Dorrego, where every Sunday from 10am to 17 pm the Fair of Antiquities takes place.

  • RECOLETA. It is one of the most residential and elegant zones of Buenos Aires, characteristic by its French style. The peaceful monks from whom the area takes its name, constructed in 1706 the convent and the Church of Pilar of vital importance for the local development. Recoleta is one of the areas with major night life, because of the variety of restaurants, pubs and night clubs.

  • CENTRO. It is the neuralgic point of the city where many offices and companies are located. Do not forget to visit the Avenue July 9, the broadest of the world on its crossing with the Avenue Corrientes, just where the obelisk is located, symbol of the city. Likewise, the Avenue Corrientes it turns almost into an obliged walk, for the cinemas, theatres, bars, restaurants and trades that it assembles, but particularly for the bookshops, where publications of all kinds can be acquired and remain opened up to high hours of the night.

  • PALERMO HOLLYWOOD. Located in the heart of Buenos Aires is the neighborhood baptized as Palermo "Hollywood", for the stations and producers of television, which are installed there. It used to be a quiet area with residential houses, but today it is a meeting place for the middle classes and for artists. Here, there are numerous thematic bars, clubs, art galeries, independent theatres, houses of antiquities and different studios. It is a place that dazzles for its exclusive and avant-garde atmosphere.

  • PUERTO MADERO. This area spreads along the river, where previous plants of the port were recycled to build elegant offices and luxurious restaurants. Today Port Madero counts as well with a cinematographic complex and a 5 stars hotel. But its transformations did not end. It continues development: the construction of high buildings, improving the communications between the center of the city and the docks of the River Plata.

  • LA BOCA is probably the area that possesses the most controversial personality among the sea neighborhoods. It is a typical immigrants area with all different origins, between them: Greeks, Yugoslavians, Turkish and Italian, especially Genoese. Worth to mention is street Caminito, pedestrian and very small. Its particularity is due to the murals and paintings on the walls and that it does not have doors. The Football Club Boca Juniors, located in Brandsen 805 is one of the most important in the country. It was founded by young inhabitants of the area in 1905.

  • BARRIO NORTE is one of the most beautiful and secure neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. The axis on which the area Norte ist constructed is the Avenue Santa Fe that crosses the city from north to south. In a few minutes time it is possible to accede to the principal tourist and commercial centers Buenos Aires Design, Alto Palermo Shopping, neighborhood Recoleta. This zone has easy access to banks, restaurants, and recreation places.

  • PALERMO VIEJO. Old Palermo is an area of broad streets and big old houses. It is a cultural area as well as being an area of entertainment. It is because of the quantity of bars, pubs and restaurants of which, there are many different styles of food (Mexican, Japanese, Creole, etc) and the alternative theatre that have enabled this area to become so popular and crowded. It has also become an area of avant-garde fashion and craftworks.

  • RETIRO. The first settlers called this area Retiro, because of the existence of a hermitage, in which were taking place spiritual retreats. Later its name was also related with the gigantic station of trains located in place, from where it was possible to travel to different points of the country. At present, Retiro concentrates one of the biggest squares of the city, luxurious hotels and numerous offices.

  • PALERMO CHICO The area of Palermo Chico is considered to be the green lung of the city because of the abundance of forests and parks like a Japanese garden and a lake. It´s an area of beautiful mansions and small streets where you can find numerous embassies and elegant residences. The Museum of Decorative Arts or the church of Sant Martin from Tours, the patron saint of the city of Buenos Aires are all worth a visit. Situated close to the area of Palermo are the Zoo, the Botanical Garden, the golf and polo courses, as well as numerous places of entertainment, such as restaurants with different types of food.

  • CABALLITO. The neighborhood owes its name to a very famous grocery in the XIXth century. Like all the neighborhoods of the west it progressed notably with the arrival of the railroad. The park Rivadavia is placed in this area. Today it is one of the most residential neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, in which interior is located the geographical center of the city.

  • BELGRANO. It is a residential neighborhood. Its silent and wooded streets, conglomerate trades, restaurants and big green spaces. The park of Belgrano''s Gullies is one of the places worth to see in the area Belgrano. Its design is a work of the famous landscape painter Carlos Thays. This zone had a residential and institutional use and the important villas are situated here, together with embassies and small-hotels.

  • NUÑEZ.One of the northern areas of Buenos Aires, at the edge of the Rio de La Plata. This neighborhood created in 1873 by Sir Florencio Nuñez has several buildings of great size and an intense commercial activity, especially in the Avenida Cabildo and in the Avenida del Libertador.
    Between this last one and the river shore you will find big outdoor areas and the famous " Monumental Stadium" and the whole district is full of gardens . The two main squares are Balcarce Square and Félix Lima. This quiet and pleasant area is characterized by a unified style of ancient confortables houses, surrounded with trees and plants.

  • Balvanera is located to the west of the centre of Buenos Aires (el centro, which comprises San Nicolás and Montserrat). The elegant northern neighbourhood of Recoleta (part of the area known as Barrio Norte) is located north of Balvanera, crossing Córdoba avenue. There are many theatre and concert halls in Balvanera. The Liceo theatre and the Ricardo Rojas cultural centre are two of the best-known venues. Currently, more than 25,000 shops are registered in Balvanera, where zoning regulations favour commerce. Many bus lines go through Balvanera, including the Colectivo 60 line, venerated by locals as el internacional, because its route passes many city landmarks.




  • CONGRESO. This is one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires. Here there are many of the most significant buildings of the city: The Congress Palace, The Casa Rosada (the Government building), and the Cathedral. In Avenida de Mayo there are a lot of architecturally valuable constructions. There are also Museums that are worth being visited, like for example The House of Carlos Gardel or the Ethnographic Museum Juan Ambrosetti. In this part of the city, where there are plenty of bars and restaurants, you will also find some historical Coffeehouses like the Café de los Angelitos, founded in 1890. The area has got very good connections, both by metro or by bus.
