  • KALSA. Centric area, in the heart of Palermo’s oldtown. In the neighbourhood, that grow during the ages of arab domination, there are some of the most important monuments. From here you can easily start a tour to the places of touristic interest. In the area there are also many bars, shops and typical Sicilian resataurants and the famous “Vucciria” market. Close to the port and train station, good public transport connections.
  • BALLARÒ.One of the most typical neighbourhoods and rich in history, it stretches along the old city walls, which used to surround the city. It was named after one of Palermo''s oldest markets, the colourful and lively Mercato di Ballarò (Ballaro Market). In the area you can visit many important monuments, like for example the Royal Palace, the Cathedral, the Tower and the Church of St. Nicholas, which dates back to the XII century. Not far away there is the main train station Stazione Centrale. From here you can easily reach (also on foot) other sites of historic and cultural interest. The neighbourhood is also comprised of two green areas: the Park of Villa Bonanno and the Park d’Orleans; there are also a lot of restaurants and shops.

  • CATTEDRALE. This is the Palermo`s old town. Close there are all the most important monuments, like for example the Cathedral, a complex with many different architectural styles. Not far away there are the Pretoria Square with the City Hall, The Massimo Theatre, and the popular Vucciria Market. Old noble buildings of this part of town are the setting for a neighbourhood with a popular atmosphere. Here you can find traditional pastry shops and excellent restaurants, where you will enjoy the exquisite Sicilian cuisine. All the most fascinating places of this town can be reached by foot from here. Anyway there are also many bus stops.
  • LIBERTÀ. Located in the northern part of the city, this neighbourhood is one of the most important commercial and shopping areas of Palermo and is well served by public transport. Nearby is the Natural Reserve of Monte Pellegrino. Besides shopping centres and shops, there are also many restaurants and cinemas. In this neighbourhood you may find the Hippodrome and two stadiums: the Renzo Barbera Stadium and the Stadio delle Palme. The park Parco della Favorita is also very famous: here you can visit some interesting monuments, like for example the Palazzina Cinese, built in 1799 by Fernando IV de Borbón and the Villa Valguarnera di Niscemi. There are also two theatres in the area: the Teatro Massimo and the Teatro Politeama.
  • MONDELLO. Is a beautiful seaside area of Palermo,12km and a bus ride from the city Center. Its sandy beach is very popular. From here you can easily reach all the most important monuments but at the same time enjoy the proximity of the sea. There are sports centers where you can hire the equipment to practice scuba diving, water skiing or sailing. Mondello is also a nightlife area: there are bars, pubs pizzerias and clubs. Close you will find charming Art Nouveau style villas that are worth the visit. Along the coast there are still recognizable the old watchtowers. The neighbourhood is well connected to other areas and the city center with buses.
  • TEATRO MASSIMO. This district is very close to the historic centre and it is well known for Teatro Massimo (the biggest theatre in Italy and the third one in Europe) and the Politeama Theathre. The two theatres define the most important commercial street: Via Ruggero Settimo. This is the commercial centre, next to the centre and to the most important city monuments. The area is well connected; it’s easy to get to the airport and the port. It’s considered the cultural centre, and you will have excellent options to go shopping (here you will find the best shops) and to go out at night (there are lots of bars, pubs, cinemas, restaurants).
  • CAPACI. Capaci is a small town 12 kilometres far away from Palermo.
    The main attraction is the wonderful beach, that offers any kind of tourist infrastructure for the young or old people. There are lots of restaurants, bars, shops, tennis or soccer fields, water sport activities (kits surf, canoe…).
    In winter the tourism moves to the main square of the town, with a lot local typical and charming locals and taverns.
    You can reach Palermo in few minutes, by car or public transportation (bus or train), and also Falcone-Borsellino airport which is situated 15 minutes far away.
