  • BENALCAZAR. Benalcazar is a distrit in the northwest part of Quito, founded with this name by the Spanish conqueror Sebastián of Belalcázar.   • CHAUPICRUZ. Chaupicruz is an area in the northwest part of the city of Quito, capital of Equator. In this area there is the only airport of Quito (The International Airport Marshal Sucre). “Chaupicruz" is one of the sectors in the 5 miles of the city of Quito, towards the north, where the ancient Camino Real passed through (Today Av. De la Prensa). Here indigenes groups of great importance had been living for many time. During the excavations of the so-called Florida project in one of the 5 hills of Chaupicruz –Osorio, many old traces and relics have been found, dating the human occupation back to 1500 years ago. The terrestrial transportation in Chaupicruz began in the 20th century, when the electric train communicating to Quito city centre was constructed. Nowadays there are trolley Bus lines and Metrovía public transports.
