  • ISOLA DI ORTIGIA. An island connected to the rest of the city by three bridges, it is the Syracuse’s old town, where you will find all the most important monuments: Apollo’s Temple, the Cathedral with its baroque facade, the Maniace Castle, the Aretusa Spring. Archaeological founding showed that the area was inhabited from the Bronze Age. During the last years this area has developed an urban transformation which led to the construction of many tourism structures. In the neighbourhood you will easily find shops, bars and pastry shops as well as restaurants where you may taste the exquisite Sicilian cuisine. To reach the other parts of the city you can catch a public bus.
  • PLEMMIRIO. A quiet residential area, located 11 km from the city centre, towards the south, it is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. It stretches along the eastern part of the Maddalena Peninsula that includes the Marine Protected Area of Plemmirio. The beautiful landscape and the rich underwater flora and fauna are ideal if you wish to enjoy nature, bird-watching and diving. It is a neighbourhood which is characterized by villas with gardens and you can also find small shops and restaurants where you can delight in the taste of the rich and varied Sicilian food. The area has been inhabited since former times, with many archaelogical deposits remaining. You can reach the Syracuse city centre by a public bus.
  • NOTO. Noto is a small city situated in the Sicilian eastern coast, 32 Km south to Syracuse.
    It is a very ancient city, the archaeological excavations discovered relics of the Greek period (III century b.C.) and catacombs of the Christian and Byzantine period. Since 2002 it takes part to the UNESCO Human Heritage, for the well-known XVIII century buildings which represents perfectly the Sicilian Baroque.
    It is worth visiting the Cathedral of San Nicolò di Mira, the Monastery of Santa Chiara, Ducezio Palace and the Villadorata Palace.
    Noto is also famous for its typical products (wine) and the excellent Sicilian kitchen. The best way to reach Syracuse is by car, to be able to enjoy the coast and the view to the sea.
