  • CANNAREGIO. The most northerly district of Venice and the gateway to the city. One of its main attractions is the Gothic church, Madonna dell''Orto, or Madonna of the Garden. A short walk south leads to the Ghetto.Further east still is the remarkable Roman Catholic church, the Gesuiti. Heading south, towards the Grand Canal, another port of call should be the impressive Gothic palace, the Ca'' d''Oro. Nearby, the busy Strada Nova offers the best in Italian shopping.

  • DORSODURO. Area Dorsoduro is surrounded by beautiful Venetian landmarks. The Academy Galleries, the Church of Frari, the old School of S. Rocco. It is very quiet but lively area where you will find loads of restaurants, really inviting cake shops and original little shops. It''s easy to reach from the railway station and the car parking ( Piazzale Roma) on foot or by Vaporetto ( Venetian means of transport along the town main channel) as well as from the airport

  • RIALTO.The Rialto Bridge crosses the Grand Canal into the San Polo district. This lively area of the city houses the bustling early-morning Rialto markets, the Erberia and the Pescheria where barges full of produce start arriving at dawn for the morning''s trading.

  • SAN MARCO. On the eastern side of the square stands the Gothic Palazzo Soranzo and on the opposite corner of the square is the Palazzo Cornaro-Mocenigo. The Franciscan Church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari which is the central attraction of the area.

  • GIUDECCA. Giudecca is the most extended island and at the same time the nearest to Venice, which is separated by the wide and deep Giudecca Channel. According to some the name would be derived from the expression “Jews”, that here resided, while other, instead think the origin is "Zudegà" (judged), due to the fact IX century the Republic awarded the grounds of the island to exiled nobles. Starting from the 1500 the island become, for its decentralized position, place of idleness with rich residences with gardens, churches and monasteries. The island is constituted by 8 smaller islands.
  • SANTA CROCE.Facing onto the Grand Canal is the beautiful baroque palazzo Ca''Pesaro, it contains the Galleria d''Arte Moderna. The palazzo also houses the Museo Orientale. The church of San Giocomo dell''Orio is one of Venice''s oldest churches. West of Campo dell''Orio is Venice''s narrowest street, Ramo Salizza Zustro. Along the Grand Canal stands the grand palazzo, Fondaco dei Turchi, Today it houses the Natural History Museum .

  • SANT''ELENA. Sant’Elena is considered the green lung of Venice, a very quiet island full of trees and surrounded by a big pine forest. It’s a good place to reach the Biennale Pavillons. It is ten minutes by public transportation to S.Marco square, even if you can walk to the city center taking a nice walk along the lagoon border. It is situated at the east end of Venice close to the Lido beach. From Sant’Elena it is also possible to reach Murano and Burano islands.

  • CASTELLO.A number of notable churches worth visiting in this area include one of the greatest early Renaissance buildings in Venice; Santa Maria dei Miracoli. The church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, familiarly known as San Zanipolo, ranks as the most spectacular example of Venetian Gothic architecture. The church of Santa Maria della Visitazione, is relatively new.This region of the city houses one of the most under estimated treasures of Venice, the Arsenale.South of the Arsenale are the Giardini Publico .
