  • TRNJE. The neighbourhood of Trnje is one of the oldest parts of Zagreb. Today, Traje is the part of Zagreb city centre that is considered as an important Croatian business centre. From "Zagrepcanka" (the biggest building in Zagreb) in the west, to "the tower of Zagreb" and "the Tower of Almeria" in the east, Trnje is the principal seat of hundreds of international and Croatian companies, like the town council of Zagreb and the Ministry of economy. In this neighbourhood you will also find, one of most important musical institutions of Zagreb, the famous concert room "Vatroslav Lisinski" and also the National Library and the University. The connection with the city centre and the
    surrounding neighbourhoods is good thanks to the public transport
    tram and bus). In Trnje you will also find many good restaurants and various types of bars and discos.

  • DONJI GRAD. Here there is the main Zagreb''s square Trg bana Josipa Jelačića. Nearby you will find relevant buildings and monuments, like the National Croatian Theatre (Hrvatsko narodno kazalište) and the Josip Juraj Strossmayer statue, in the homonymous Square, made by one of the greatest Croatian sculptors Ivan Meštrović. You can reach walking the area where most of the museums are situated (e.g. Museum of Croatian Architecture HAZU, The Museum of Naďf Art). Not very far away there is also the memorial-museum of Dražen Petrović. In this part of the city there are many green areas, as well as the Botanic Garden. The district is very well connected by public transport.
  • NOVI ZAGREB. Located on the way from the Pleso airport to the city Center, it is a residential area with blocks of flats built after the Second World War. There are also many green areas. The expansion of this neighbourhood begun in 1953 when this part of the city was for the first time chosen as location for the Zagreb’s Fair, the Zagrebački Velesajam. This district is well connected to other areas by buses and trams: you can reach the city Center in 20 minutes. Here you may find not only the Fair buildings, but also malls, restaurants and shops. Novi Zagreb will be as well the location for the new Museum of Contemporary Art, which is now in construction.
  • MAKSIMIR It is a quiet, residential neighbourhood, where there is the large green area of Maksimir Park. Inside the park, where you can also visit a Zoo, you will also find some remarkable monuments, like for example the Vidikovac kiosk or the Jeka Pavillion. The centre of the district is the Kvaternik Square. Nearby there is also the Stadium. By public transport (buses and trams) you can reach the centre of Zagreb in 20 minutes, The Square Trg bana Josip Jelačića is 3 bus stops and 6 tram stops far away.
