Public enemies – Sexual minorities, language and practice in the 70s and 80s in Spain
On Thursday March 3rd in the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona – MACBA - an interesting and polemic exposition named “Social dangerousness. Sexual minorities, language and practices in the 70s-80s in the Spanish State” will be presented.

The exposition shows comics, photos, videos and records of performances while taking us on a trip into the time when there where feminist groups, homosexual manifestations , the Numax and Roca strike, the fragmentation of the Communist Movement, the climax of the transformism as a cultural spectacle in Spain, the first Libertine Days, Canet Rock, the rise of videos as political pamphlets, the alliance between artists and anarchists of the Salo Diana, the first public counter-cultural texts, the anti-psychiatry, the Coordination of Fighting Prisoners, the Organization for the Legalization of Marihuana, the Ecologist Federation.
A melting pot of places, facts, pictures, objects and artists compromised with the creation of spaces, protest and resistance, such as Fina Miralles, Ocaña, Nazario, Miguel Benloch; That bring us back to the Spain of the late 70s and 80s, the time of Franco’s democracy.
Barcelona, Seville, Madrid and Granada are the main stages where this historiographical tale full of references, to art as well as popular culture, was built from political views and where affective potentialities beyond what we call “forms of the politic” were shaped. Ways of expression that are clearly against official narratives, that have declared for more than two dozen years how politics run out during the period after the fall of the regime of Franco; or against every one that affirms the poorness of the artistic practices of that time. This exposition is a smart way to prove how much visual quality, playful contents and creative processes were improved during those years.
This exhibition, that will stay opened until the 6th of March in the Room 0 at the Museum (just next to La Central library) is totally free and the visiting hours are from 17.00 to 22.00. During the five days of the exposition, various presentations of the projects exhibited will be realized.
A stimulating journey through a not so far period that invites us to travel into that time and visit some of the most interesting corners of Barcelona, that you can enjoy booking with Apartments in Barcelona.
