Via Chiappara al Carmine Close to:
BALLARÒ.One of the most typical neighbourhoods and rich in history, it stretches along the old city walls, which used to surround the city. It was named after one of Palermo''s oldest markets, the colourful and lively Mercato di Ballarò (Ballaro Market). In the area you can visit many important monuments, like for example the Royal Palace, the Cathedral, the Tower and the Church of St. Nicholas, which dates back to the XII century. Not far away there is the main train station Stazione Centrale. From here you can easily reach (also on foot) other sites of historic and cultural interest. The neighbourhood is also comprised of two green areas: the Park of Villa Bonanno and the Park d’Orleans; there are also a lot of restaurants and shops.
