CIMIEZ. Cimiez is the one of the chic neighbourhoods of Nice and it is located in the north of the city. Here you can find the Henri Matisse Museum and the Roman ruins: the arenas, the amphitheatre, the thermal baths and the early Christian Basilica. Nearby you will find the splendid Hotel Régina, which was constructed for the English Aristocracy and principally for Queen Victoria. On top of the hill you will also find the Monastery of Cimiez and the Church of the Franciscan Monks from the XVI century. The monastery gardens, shelter a rose garden, the Matisse Museum, an unbeatable viewpoint of the city and a sea promenade. The painters Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy are buried in the cemetery of the monastère. There is a good connection with the city centre thanks to the Nice public transport which takes you to the city centre in less than 15 minutes.
