Shanghai is the largest port in the world, located in the east of China on the Yangtze River Delta. Its humid subtropical climate, with very cold winters and hot summers, isn’t a problem for the entrepreneurs, professionals and tourists from all over the world who come and visit this city. It was the birthplace of political and social transformation in the twentieth century and today is known for being the financial center of China, due in part to its blend of traditional and modern architecture as well as being the most westernized city in the People’s Republic of China. It’s an important cultural center, with the Shanghai Ballet Company, the Shanghai Symphonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and the Shanghai Municipal Performance Company. To enjoy the performances you can find the Shanghai Auditorium, the Majestic Theatre and the Shanghai Grand Theatre. A good idea for getting to know the city is walking along the edge of the Huangpu River, where there are 24 buildings from the British colonial era. You can also visit the trendy area in Pudong with its skyscrapers, or go to the center of Europe in the area called the French Concession, left almost the same as how the French had left it after the Opium War. The cuisine is incredibly varied just like the architecture. There are great places for traditional food in the Old City and you can find international cuisine almost anywhere. The nightlife is top notch, you can go to Park 97 in Fuixing Park and have a drink alongside the sharks swimming in huge tanks, followed by a karaoke session. Going shopping and visiting the Yangtze Delta are other favorite activities for tourists, and in order to make the most out of your stay you should check out our selection of Shanghai apartments, you will surely find what you’re looking for.
Many of our Shanghai apartments are close to these places, although some of the areas are very popular and you must hurry if you want to guarantee that the location where you rent will be close to these emblematic sites.
